Happy February everyone! I hope the first month of this year is treating you right. If not, then I’ve got some hope for you.
Many of us made resolutions and most of those people who did, have given them up so far. I didn’t make a resolution this year. I haven’t made one in several years. However, what I used to do was create SMART goals in several areas of my life: financial, educational, emotional, spiritual, and relational. I didn’t do that this year.
I didn’t set any goals this year, because I felt a little frustrated, defeated, and let down by the life situation that I’m in. This month, I found hope where I always find hope – Jesus. I’m going to share some hope from YouTube. Check it out.
The first Sunday in January, I watched church with Red Rocks Church. I found some inspiration in a sermon called “Look to the East.” I was reminded that each day, week, month, and year is a fresh start. I realized I keep looking backward to where I’ve been but not forwards to where I want to go. This message is inspirational if you’re stuck in a cycle. This message reminds us that there is light at the end of every dark season. Keep hope.

On the second Sunday in January, I watched church with Life. Church. This church is pastored by Craig Groeschel. He has started a six-week message series on taking back your life. I realized that yes, other people were in control and I needed to take back control from them. I needed to follow Jesus. This guy, with his sermon series, was it.
Week 1 is Take Back your life. This is the introduction to the series. What do you value? We all struggle with doing the right thing, falling off our resolutions, etc. His premise is that it’s our reason why that makes us stick to our decisions, or lay off them. Abraham Decided to follow God, Ruth decided to stay with Naomi and follow God, Daniel resolved to remain pure for God. This is a good time to consider what you value – then plow forward.

Week 2 is Be Ready. This is the first installment. We are always being pushed, poked, and prodded by so many things ins this world. We’re not prepared for them, so we give in. Once we give in once, it can start a big cycle, catching us and our loved people in our web.

Week 3 is the Power of Consistency. Don’t we all want to be better? His premise is that consistency is the key to being better. In pretty much all ways – if we’re more consistent, then we’ll have a better life.

Week 4 is Getting Closer to God. The idea is that the more connected we are to God, the more we can gain strength from him. Disconnected = Disempowered. Connected = Empowered.
